Connect with Christ.

Disconnect with the world.

Do you know Jesus loves you?

The Internet tries so hard to fill the God-sized gap in your heart.  Truth is, no amount of great photography, interesting information, amazing stories, beautiful inspirational sayings, enticing pornography, etc. compares with a heart-to-heart talk with the Creator God.

Earlier today, I was thinking about suicide.  I forgot what led to me thinking about it, but I wasn’t thinking about killing myself, just the horror and the tragedy that is a suicide.  I’ve dealt with such emotions before, and my grandfather hung himself on a tree down the street from the house I grew up in Ewa Beach, so I’m no stranger to a self-imposed death sentence.

I was thinking about how Jesus must’ve felt, understanding that his whole life would culminate, would end, would be destined for death.  I mean, imagine, like you get baptized in the Jordan River by Cousin John, and you have a whole big awesome spectacle when you come out of the water: the heavens tear apart, people are screaming for joy (or fear) that God just spoke from the sky and that He is really, really real.  But your whole ministry, all of your training, all of your everything will be taken away from you in about 3 years.  What will you do in that time?  How would you spend your time with others?  Will you value each minute?  Or “live life to the fullest”?  Will those you love continue to love as you have loved?  Will they connect to others like you connected with them?

I realized today, Jesus can connect with more people than we think the Jesus of the Bible is capable of.  Jesus hung on the cross for people who think about hanging themselves.  My prayer is that God talked to my grandfather before he entered into eternity.  And that if he didn’t that he would be in a better place, or raised from the dead so he can live a different life (wouldn’t that be crazy, like he just pops out of the ground, new and refreshed body and all, telling us about the afterlife?).

The internet is an information highway where your bandwith is the insane, uncontrolled speed limit.  I’d rather be connecting with the Creator than this dangerous place.  I encourage you all to do the same.  Talking with Jesus (AKA praying) and reading posts from Heaven (AKA reading the Bible) are of more value than any blog, and will connect you and I by something more important than all this stuff: love.
